JJ: Your stylist Logan Horne boy was featured on tastemaster Scott Schuman’s fashion blog The Sartorialist.

LM: Yeah, he showed me! It’s cute. He’s a cutie pie.

JJ: You’ve been attending a few fashion shows this week. When you see a look you like, do you put in a request?

LM: Well, the other night, someone asked me how I dressed myself and I was, like, “My stylist dresses me” but I’d say it’s, like, 80-90% him and the rest is me because I’m very open-minded and we’re always on the same page – just very open-minded and it’s fun.

JJ: You went to a fashion show with Rachel McAdams – how was that?

LM: Altuzarra! Yeah, I met her there and she was nice – [photographers] are always, like, “Van we take a picture together?” but I can’t even describe it. She’s so beautiful in person! Very nice, too. • Read full story…

When Leighton Meester auditioned for the part of Gossip Girl’s spoiled rich girl Blair Waldorf in 2007, she bought herself a pair of red shoes: leather slingback heels from Marc by Marc Jacobs (not “big” Marc; the actress could barely afford the little one). Returning to New York following a childhood in Florida, Manhattan, and Los Angeles, she visualized herself tripping down the street in her Blair shoes, like Dorothy landing in Oz. “In my heart, I could picture myself wearing them living in New York,” she says. “So I wore them to the audition and got the part. I can’t give them away because every time I wear them, I’m living that dream.”

Lest one think this young lady in a slouchy gray Chris & Jaime T-shirt and shorts sitting in a New York bistro is possessed by Tony Robbins, this fable is delivered in a very Leighton way: concise and pragmatic. SheKnows was invited to the Sony studios set for the psychological thriller The Roommate starring Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl, Minka Kelly from Friday Night Lights and buff Cam Gigandet of Twilight.

We can’t say a lot yet, but trust us — this is Leighton Meester as you’ve never seen her before. In the film, two college coeds, both interested in art and fashion, become roomies. One will turn out to be a little stranger than expected. Cam plays Minka’s rock band drummer boyfriend and, of course all does not stay rosy in the halls and rooms of ye olde ivy-covered dorm.

After watching some pretty intense and bizarre stuff going on between Leighton’s character Rebecca and her sympathetic roomie Sara, played by Minka, we got to pull the girls aside for a little chat. Picture them both in college girl casual dormwear, and both young women looked gorgeous with minimal make-up (we turn green with envy). We can’t reveal specific plot points until closer to the film’s opening next year but, we were able to get the scoop on Leighton and Minka’s personal relationship and their upcoming projects.

How did you feel about becoming a brunette for Gossip Girl?

“I’m naturally blond, but since my hair was bleached at the time, the dye soaked it up quickly and turned green! I didn’t cry, but I thought, I’d better get this part. Fortunately, my roommate back then was a hairdresser, so he helped me fix it.”

Are there any wild hairstyles lurking in your past?

“I’ve dyed my hair a million colors—purple was pretty crazy. When I was doing the movie Drive Thru, my character was punked out, so I put black and bright red streaks in it. At this point I don’t want to go too crazy with color because I know how long it takes to get my hair back to health.” • Read full story…

This weekend’s Times magazine features a fashion layout with Leighton Meester, the former child model turned actress who is best known for playing the spoiled Upper East Side princess Blair Waldorf on “Gossip Girl.” I caught up for breakfast with the 23-year-old Meester, who showed up wearing a mannish Ruth Reichl-meets-Annie Hall disguise, including a hat and respectable spectacles.

I had lunch with Jason Wu recently, who told me you were his date to an event. This is how rumors start.

 If Leighton Meester and her TV alter-ego Blair Waldorf ever met, they might end up fighting for the affection of Gossip Girl bad boy Chuck Bass.

“I think guys who are rebels and make their own rules are appealing,” the actress, 22, tells Seventeen magazine for its March issue. “I don’t want to tame anybody. I want them to be dark and bad.”

Hard-working Meester, however, isn’t looking for an outright troublemaker. “[G]uys who are a little bad – and by bad, I mean they’re not like constantly around – I consider gold,” she explains. “Guys who are unavailable are actually a dream come true for me because I’m unavailable all the time. Gossip Girl cutie Leighton Meester is at the top of her game. She’s on a hit show, got to make out with Entourage hottie Adrien Grenier and was recently voted New York’s most stylish woman by OK! readers.

“I was actually just talking about that, saying something about Milan and flipping through magazines,” the actress told OK! at an event she co-hosted at the Kira Plastinina store in NYC’s SoHo. “I’ve gotten to wear such beautiful clothes and had such a variety and it’s just been so nice because I feel like I’ve grown so much with my style and everything because I’ve been able to have fun with it. It’s really fun for me.

The location? Correct. The little dog and the fabulous dresses? Yes (his name is Jack) and yes. The glam squad? Hair, makeup, and stylist, all there. Gossip Girl, with its unapologetic portrayal of wealthy New York teens drinking, drugging, and bed-hopping, is a cultural juggernaut. One of the reasons the show is so popular is that it’s a marketer’s dream: The invitation to the cast’s wrap party came printed on a bottle of hot-pink Vitaminwater. An event for a new Yves Saint Laurent lipstick was held in honor of the show and its costume designer.
