Leighton Meester and Blake Lively were among the Gossip Girl stars who hit the town in New York last night.

Cast members took a break from filming to attend the launch of Gossip Girl designer Eric Daman’s new book, You Know You Want It.

Understandably, competition was fierce on the red carpet as Blake showcased a pair of slim-fitting leather leggings complete with metal studs.

She finished off her outfit with a loose-fitting black jacket and white shirt.Leighton, meanwhile, was sporting a more colourful pink ensemble, while her boyfriend on the show Ed Westwick rocked up in a leather jacket.

Ed’s real life girlfriend and co-star Jessica Szohr and Michelle Trachtenberg also attended the event at Henri Bendel on Fifth Avenue.

In recent days, the cast have been braving freezing temperatures in New York to finish filming the third series of the show.

It is due to resume on US network CW in March.
