In case you missed it, Leighton Meester stepped out of her Gossip Girl open-toed strappy Mary Janes and onto the stage of It’s On With Alexa Chung today for a somewhat early-Madonna-meets-”Vogue” live performance of her new single, “Somebody To Love.”

LEIGHTON Meester says music makes her feel sexy.

The Gossip Girl star — whose self-titled debut album is due to to hit shelves in 2010 — has revealed singing brings out a different part of her personality and it makes her feel raunchier.

“My music brings out a whole other side of me, an alter ego, and I love it,” she says. “I feel sexier and more ‘me’. You do not really get that when you play a character.”

Meester, 23, recently revealed that she doesn’t like not having a boyfriend and that her new single, Somebody to Love, is all about her personal experience with love. • Read full story…

Leighton Meester wants her ‘Gossip Girl’ alter-ego to be more relaxed with her fashion. The actress – who plays Blair Waldorf in the hit US show – says her character puts too much effort into the outfits she wears and needs to realise not everything needs to match. She said: ‘She could let loose a bit. She’s always got every bow in the right spot and her headband perfectly placed. Don’t expect Leighton Meester to use the ‘L’ word any time soon.

“I always resist falling in love,” the Gossip Girl actress, 23, tells British Glamour in its December issue. “My problem is, I lose interest. Every time I’ve fallen in love, it’s just momentary.”

And Meester certainly hasn’t kept in touch with any of her ex-boyfriends – in fact she would rather forget them completely.

“Honestly,” she says, “I’ve hated every boyfriend I’ve had.” Hopefully that doesn’t include Meester’s current beau, Romanian-born Sebastian Stan, who stars alongside her in the CW hit show, on which he plays Chuck Bass’s rival, Carter Baizen.

On the plus side, having a heavy heart makes for great music, and Meester certainly did some soul searching while making her first record: “Somebody To Love.”

“A lot of inspiration comes from my own life, because that’s what I know,” the actress-turned-singer says matter-of-factly. “I draw from past relationships and really sh—y ones.”

Despite such unlucky-in-love status, Meester is still holding out for the real deal. “I don’t want to have a boyfriend unless I want to be with him forever.” But her cautious heart remains: “If I don’t see an end, that’s nice. Because I always see an end.”
