Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass have always had a very passionate and tumultuous relationship on “Gossip Girl.” With season two ending with Chuck traveling the world to collect treasures for Blair to prove he cares for her, it does seem that, at least for now, these two are trying to make it work.
“I mean, that’s pretty romantic. I think he knows now what he wants. They’re done with high school, so any drama associated with that is sort of gone,” Leighton Meester (a.k.a. Blair) told MTV News. “I mean, I think I’m pretty satisfied with what happened. I was really happy when I knew they kind of ended up together at the end of this season.”
The post-collegiate high school students of “Gossip Girl” made it through their second season Monday night — and, for most of them, their senior year — with a graduation ceremony, a couple of parties and a shower of nasty revelations (old news to us but fresh to the general population of Constance Billiard/St. Jude’s) that had no effect at all on anyone’s social standing.
The low-rated but pop-culturally potent CW series is the Tiffany of teenage soaps, an absurdly eventful drama with a magazine-cover cast that dresses romantic striving and the occasional naughty thrill in high-fashion threads and excellent Manhattan locations. Like most shows about high school, or at least the ones that feature actors old enough that we don’t mind watching them pretend to have sex (with each other, and with adults), it is not about high school so much as a state of being, a world of new experiences its viewers are either living through, looking forward to, or nostalgic for. • Read full story…
How did you feel about becoming a brunette for Gossip Girl?
“I’m naturally blond, but since my hair was bleached at the time, the dye soaked it up quickly and turned green! I didn’t cry, but I thought, I’d better get this part. Fortunately, my roommate back then was a hairdresser, so he helped me fix it.”
Are there any wild hairstyles lurking in your past?
“I’ve dyed my hair a million colors—purple was pretty crazy. When I was doing the movie Drive Thru, my character was punked out, so I put black and bright red streaks in it. At this point I don’t want to go too crazy with color because I know how long it takes to get my hair back to health.” • Read full story…
